Workflow
A Repeatable Workflow for Shipping an AI Song a Week
Mar 30, 2026 · 9 min read

The seven-step process indie artists are using to publish consistently without burning out — or losing their voice.
The seven steps
1. Concept — one sentence, one mood, one hook. 2. Rough — three AI generations, pick one. 3. Lyrics — rewrite at least half. 4. Vocals — record or clone your own. 5. Arrange — trim, extend, swap sections. 6. Mix — polish with a mastering assistant. 7. Ship — cover art, metadata, release.
The whole cycle fits in a weekend once you have the reps. The bottleneck is almost never the AI — it is decision fatigue on the human side.
Batch what you can
Cover art in one session for the month. Metadata and descriptions in another. Vocal takes for two or three tracks in the same evening. Context-switching is the silent killer of independent output.
Where BackToMusic fits in
Use it as your reference library. When you are stuck on how a genre should sound, listen to a few curated tracks on the jukebox instead of scrolling infinite feeds. And when you want a straight comparison of the generators driving this workflow, read the tool comparison guide.
